Fans are still waiting for a release date months after Drake’s Certified Lover Boy dropped

Attention to detail completes this Drake’s version of the triple white Nike Air Force 1 Low

Not only is Drake a “Certified Lover Boy”, he definitely is a certified Swoosh for life. Drake’s NOCTA sub-label by Nike finally dropped the award-winning Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter’s first signature shoe in 2022. However, fans are still waiting for the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Certified Lover Boy”; which was expected to come out the same time the 2021 album dropped.

Last March, the Drake NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra finally debuted after appearing in the “Laugh Now, Cry Later” music video. This marks Drake’s first-ever signature sneaker with the Swoosh after the partnership began in 2013.

People still keep their hopes up for a surprise Air Force 1 Low “Certified Lover Boy” release; the cancellation of the release is a result of production issues. This means there must be a limited number of pairs somewhere in the vault, and that these will be made available exclusively in the near future.

This shoe is basically a Triple White Nike Air Force 1 Low, the best-selling AF1 colorway of all time. It uses pebbled leather for better upper quality. There’s a slight modification on the shape of this sneaker, as well as “Certified Lover Boy” details on the cupsole.

NOCTA’s triple sword motif appears on the heel panel of the left pair, while the usual “NIKE AIR” comprise the right pair.

On the cupsole’s lateral side, a phrase saying “Love you forever” replaces the usual Air label. This stands out because the statement appears in a cursive fashion. More subtle details emblazon the shoe. The outsole features stars on the regular version, but this CLB edition flaunts hearts on the toe and heel sections. As if to say anyone who rocks the shoe will fall in love.

Certainly Cancelled?

It’s been months since Drake’s album came out, and his Hot Step Air Terra already debuted last March 2022. With production being the main cause of the cancellation, it would be a surprise if Nike and NOCTA unveil a release date. A shock drop with extremely limited numbers is possible; however, new colorways of the NOCTA Hot Step Air Terra began emerging in May 2022. Which can indicate that Drake and Nike already moved on to other things.

A surprise move is still not out of the question as the two powerhouse entities have more plans in store throughout the partnership.

The only thing that is sure for now is that more NOCTA Nike Hot Step Air Terra colorways will release this year.

What is NOCTA?

Drake signed with Nike back in December 2013 and released a bunch of OVO (October’s Very Own) Jordan Retros. After being a loyal ambassador to the Swoosh, Champagne Papi and Nike introduces Drake’s very own Nike sub-label. NOCTA pays homage to the rapper’s “nocturnal creative process”; which is why the new label focuses on functional and comfortable products.

NOCTA x Nike already released an apparel collection in the past year, but it’s only this March 2022 when Drake’s very first sneaker official dropped. The NOCTA apparel includes a Nike Tech Fleece jacket, gloves, a hat, hoodies, sweatpants, and more. The three swords emblem became a signature label on all products.

With the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra already out in two colorways, expect more styles to come out in the near future. This is only the beginning of what is already a fruitful relationship between the Swoosh brand and Drake.

Is it worth reselling NOCTA products?

Back when Drake and Jordan Brand released limited-edition OVO sneakers, there was a lot of hype. Signature hues of Black, White, and Gold made the premium Air Jordans even more premium with the addition of the OVO owl.

One of the most expensive OVO Air Jordan Retros is the Air Jordan 12. Clad in white and gold, this special sneaker joins the all-black OVO Air Jordan 12; both are the most expensive among Jordan OVO releases.

Another popular selection is the Air Jordan 10. Just like the 12s, these come in a two colorway pack in white gold and black.

And finally, there’s the Air Jordan 8 OVO Pack; completing the White, Black, and Gold themes in the collab.

These sneakers are now worth at least triple their retail price. The Air Jordans 8 and 10 have a lower resell value compared to the 12s, which resell for over $700 in various sizes.

As for the new NOCTA Hot Step Air Terra, it’s going to take a while before they reach high prices. With a retail price of $180 USD, the two colorways barely break the $300 mark - often even going lower as demand is scarce.

It’s expected to surge once NOCTA gets more hype, though. If only the Certified Lover Boy Nike Air Force 1s dropped, maybe it would be a completely different story. But as far as the resell goes, NOCTA apparel and sneakers will definitely have their own time to shine.
